AMA Road A or Bust
Monday, June 8, 2009
Well its been awhile since I added to the APP Blog. Blame it on busy, work, or the fact that I finally opened a Facebook account, or just being lazy :)
But the last weekend made we want to post. What a great weekend, rain, wind, sun, friends, bikes, AMA pros, umbrella girls, bike vendor, demo rides, BBQ, Wisconsin pickles and cheese, family, friends, tire changes, race bikes, bands, cage fights, did I say Umbrella girls......
The weekend had it all. We travelled with Quillman Motorsports for the Road America AMA round a lovely 458 mile drive. Thoughts of Smokey and Bandit ring in your head as you barrel through Illinois hoping the Troopers don't notice the 40' RV passing everything in sight. Its a long drive but well worth the agony and sleepiness.
Working in the pits and helping Jason get his 09 Yamaha R6 ready for the battle is a thrill. There are so many little things that have to happen it is hard to imagine that we did them all. You are fighting against some of hte biggest teams you can imagine. We have 3 people including the rider working hard to get ready while they have people falling out of their 75 foot rigs drinking coffee and heating breakfast. Its a tough road to go up against the best of the best trying to make up a few extra 1/10s but we did it.
Jason ran in Daytona Superbike what used to be Supersport and qualified well considering we were chasing suspension setting (brand new setup for the weekend) and unknown tire setup. Everyone was a bit off the pace and struggling to get the pace. But in the end we got through the pain and made it happen.
